VQ24

The VQ24 is an updated version of the well known V24, designed by Dick Koopmans in 1993 and produced by Victoire Yachts. Speedsail have developed the V24MkII with shallow draught keel (1,2m) and larger cabin space to increase the possibilities for touring inland waters. Speedsail decided to sell the project to Geuzenboats in Sneek, who built the first boat in corecell/epoxy.

VQ32 BV has invited Geuzenboats to team up and to promote the boat under the VQ trade mark. Both the 24 and the 32 come from the drawing table of Dick Koopmans, and both are fast boats, built light and strong, using modern production materials. Both boats are suitable for short-handed sailing.

During 2007 the first VQ24 is being prepared for racing. Dick KoopmansMaarten Russchen Jaap Russchen, Wessel Agterhof and other sailors will join the Team VQ24 for local races in the Netherlands.

Meanwhile plans are being made for a deep keel version for racing, and a shallow draught touring version of the VQ24 built in polyester. This touring version will be optimised for yacht charters. The racing version may be compared with a class mini, but less extreme and with much more comfort on board.

In November 2007 Geuzenboats has started the production of four VQ24's at their yard in Sneek. Geuzenboats use the VQ trade mark under license.
